Volume 1 is divided into 9 sections: Prehistoric Spain, Rome, Visigothic Hispania, al-Andalus, Mozarabic, Romanesque, Gothic, Mudejar and Military art. Volume 2 is divided into 3 sections: Renacimiento, Renacimiento y Manierismo, and Barroco. Each of these sections is vast, easy to explore. Many of these sections also contain images from other geographical regions for comparative or contrastive analysis.

Each section also includes an historical introduction to the period and a glossary of art terminology.
